I am very sad to say that Andrea Levy died yesterday.
Andrea was an extraordinary woman who brought her immense vitality, intelligence, passion and huge wit to everything she wrote.
The BBC adaptation of The Long Song made Andrea happy and it is painful to know that she will not see the National Theatre’s production of Small Island which starts rehearsals in a few weeks time.
Andrea’s rich legacy opened people’s minds and gave enormous pleasure.
