Tom Connolly

Tom is a screenwriter, director and novelist.

Tom has two new feature screenplays, 9 x 9 and Refugee and two half hour comedy scripts. Channel X have optioned comedy half hour Alix & Eddie.

His original feature-length screenplay The Love Letter of Jimmy Fisher was accepted onto eQuinoxe Europe’s programme.

Tom made an award-winning short film Mate starring Ed Stoppard. His radio play commission The Man in the Lift for Sweet Talk Productions on BBCR4 starring Phyllida Law, Sheila Reid and John Light was shortlisted for the Imison award.

His debut novel, The Spider Truces (co-agented with Deborah Rogers) was published by Myriad. It was selected for Waterstones’ New Voices, the Financial Times Books of the Year, shortlisted for the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award and the Waverton Good Read Award and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize. It was reviewed as “a fierce, humane and hazily poetic work” by The Guardian and as “a beautiful debut” by The Financial Times. Tom’s second novel set in New York, Men Like Air, also published by Myriad, was selected by WH Smiths Fresh Talent, and reviewed as “Funny and refreshingly complex” by Elle magazine, “Beautiful, witty and sharp, a contender for book of the year” by Bookmunch and “The ultimate love letter to New York, one of the books of 2016” by The Last Word.
