Jon Macqueen

 

Jon is a writer and producer from London. 

After years of working variously in cinemas and post-production facilities, Jon finally found his way into television comedy. Working at TalkbackThames and Retort first under Phil Bowker and then Jon Rolph, Jon developed both his own projects and those of other writers such as the Flavours Comedy Blaps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEsx2Ctx7sI

Jon was associate producer on all three series of Phil Bowker’s Phoneshop and The Javone Prince Show, a 4 x half-hour sketch comedy series for Lovely Electricity/BBC Studios. Jon has had episodes of his spec series Lower Case Eyes commissioned by Sky and ITV, a feature film script optioned by Lex Filmed Entertainment and is the creator of How To Have It All, a family sitcom for Talkback Thames/Retort.

He was script editor and wrote two episodes for Hank Zipzer 2 (Kindle/CBBC) and wrote a further two episodes for series three which TX’d summer 2016. Jon was also part of the small storylining team for a feature-length Hank Zipzer special to be transmitted at Christmas 2016.

Jon has contributed material to The Luisa Show, a pilot for ITV2 as well as working on Meatspace (based on the novel by Nikesh Shukla) for Kindle Entertainment. Meatspace was selected for a SKY readthrough with a cast including Meera Syal, Nina Wadia, Gemma Whelan and Colin Hoult. His pilot Hailmakers for BBC Studios, commissioned by BBC3 has been nominated for a Screen Nation Film and Television Award. He was also the Story Producer on The Athena (Bryncoed Television) which has been nominated for a Broadcast Award 2020.

More recently, Jon was the Series Consultant on Idris Elba’s In The Long Run series 2 for Green Door/Sky One and wrote an episode for series 3. He wrote two episodes of new live action comedy Goldies Oldies for Nickelodeon, TX August 2021.
