Dan is currently writing an episode for BBC series Shakespeare and Hathaway and has been commissioned to write an episode of new series Balearic Beat for Cosmopolitan Pictures. He has written for Death in Paradise Series 5 & 6 (Red Planet/BBC1) and for BBC series The Coroner. He wrote three episodes of New Tricks for Wall to Wall/BBC1 and two episodes of the BBC series Father Brown. His original drama series Fifth Estate received a script commission from BBC Northern Ireland. Over the past few years, Dan has also written over twenty-five episodes of BBC1’s Doctors and a radio play, A Fare to Remember, broadcast on BBC7.
Dan’s first play The Things Good Men Do was produced at the Old Red Lion and Lyric Hammersmith. He completed an attachment at the National Theatre Studio during which he wrote his second play Crash, Burn. He has also worked with director Jamie Harper on Invisible Storms (Time Out Critics Choice) and Swing two part-improvised plays at The Cock Tavern Theatre, Kilburn.
In his time, Dan Muirden has worked as a diplomat, actor, a door-to-door book salesman in both the USA and Italy as well as enjoying a stint as a tour rep around Europe. He has flirted with a career in poker, claims to be a qualified chef and in theory speaks five languages, including mandarin Chinese.
