Dan is currently writing two episodes of the new Dan Sefton series Mallorca Files for Cosmopolitan Pictures/BBC1 (TX late 2019). He recently completed his fifth Father Brown episode and his second Shakespeare and Hathaway, (both BBC, both TX spring 2019). He has written for Death in Paradise Series 5 & 6 (Red Planet/BBC1) and for BBC series The Coroner. He wrote three episodes of New Tricks for Wall to Wall/BBC1.
His original drama series Crash and Burn, co-written with Julian Jones and Andy Rattenbury, received a script commission from ITV and has now been optioned by Lionsgate. His own project Fifth Estate received a script commission from BBC Northern Ireland. Over the past few years, Dan has also written over twenty-five episodes of BBC1’s Doctors and a radio play, A Fare to Remember, broadcast on BBC7.
Dan’s first play The Things Good Men Do was produced at the Old Red Lion and Lyric Hammersmith. He completed an attachment at the National Theatre Studio during which he wrote his second play Crash, Burn. He has also worked with director Jamie Harper on Invisible Storms (Time Out Critics Choice) and Swing two part-improvised plays at The Cock Tavern Theatre, Kilburn.
In his time, Dan Muirden has worked as a diplomat, actor, a door-to-door book salesman in both the USA and Italy as well as enjoying a stint as a tour rep around Europe. He has flirted with a career in poker, claims to be a qualified chef and in theory speaks five languages, including mandarin Chinese.
