Stephen Greenhorn’s award-winning musical SUNSHINE ON LEITH will be performed in rep at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 20th May to 1st October 2022

Stephen Greenhorn’s Sunshine on Leith is an inspiring musical set to the songs of The Proclaimers, following two soldiers as they return home to Edinburgh to resume their romantic lives.

It will be performed in rep at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 20th May to 1st Ocotber 2022, directed by Elizabeth Newman & Ben Occhipinti.

When Sunshine on Leith was first performed at Dundee Rep in 2007, The Guardian review declared it a hit:

“Not since Willy Russell came up with Blood Brothers has Britain produced such a perfect and perfectly unexpected marriage of music and theatre. Had playwright and screenwriter Stephen Greenhorn done nothing else, he should be declared a genius for spotting that the songs of Craig and Charlie Reid – with all their emotional honesty, singalong raucousness and political fire – are a true gift to the stage.”

The musical was adapted into a film starring George Mackay, Peter Mullan and Jane Horrocks in 2013.
